Lu Guang
Lu Guang, a talented photographer, was born in Zhejaing Province, China, in 1961. He attended the Fine Arts Academy of Tsinghua University in Beijing. In China, he had made many documentary projects, most on health and environmental issues of today. He became successful with many contests he entered such as the Henri Nannan Prize in Photography in Germany, the World Press Photo contest, and he won a National Geographic Photography Grant. His photos have a strong emotional impact and capture every emotion and feeling that is happening in the photo.
This photo was taken May 8, 2007 shows an eleven year old girl, Xu Li who suffers from bone cancer. More than 20 Hutsou villagers die from cancer each year. This photo is able to capture a lot of emotion in the young girl's eyes as well as the way her body lays in the tub of water. Guang's photos express the hardships of life in China and the lack of a strong healthcare system.
The most seriously polluted region in China is the Shanxi Province. This includes the highest rate of birth defects. The photo was taken on April 15 of 2009 of young children suffering with illness and defects.
(July 10, 2005) Many people in the village of Xiakang suffer from cerebal thrombosis due to them drinking the polluted ground water for so many years. 64 year old, Wang Boasheng is one of them. He can not lie in bed because his ulcers hurt too much. You can almost feel the mans pain by looking at this photograph.
