For my concentration I focused on light and shadow and how it interacts with natural objects. I photographed a rose and stones observing negative space and shadows created by the positioning of light. Inspired by Imogen Cunningham's botanical works, I focused on light, line, space, and form. The work expresses that there is beauty within everything, whether it be dead, withered, or mundane. Using the stones and rose, I manipulated the shadow, point of view, and my positioning to add variety in the series. The transformation of the shadows shows multiple points of view. I forced the viewer to look at the same object multiple times. Every piece is different from the next and the rose and stones is never the same in them. Like prayer beads, the stones and rose become like ritual objects forcing the viewer to concentrate on a simple item.
